WOODCHIP

Our premium woodchip mulch is a highly versatile and practical material that delivers a wide range of benefits for gardens, landscaping projects, and agricultural land across Scotland. Whether you are looking to suppress weeds, retain soil moisture, regulate ground temperature, or simply improve the long-term health of your soil, woodchip mulch is one of the most cost-effective and natural solutions available.

The highly porous structure of woodchip makes it exceptionally good at water retention. When applied as a surface mulch, it acts as a protective barrier that significantly reduces evaporation from the soil below — keeping your ground moist and your plants hydrated for longer between waterings. This is particularly valuable during dry summer periods and in free-draining sandy soils that struggle to hold moisture.

As the woodchip slowly breaks down over time, it releases organic matter and nutrients back into the soil, gradually improving its structure, fertility, and biological activity. This natural decomposition process encourages earthworm activity and beneficial microbial growth — both of which are essential for a healthy and productive growing environment.

Woodchip mulch is also an excellent weed suppressant. A generous layer applied around plants, trees, and shrubs blocks sunlight from reaching weed seeds in the soil, dramatically reducing germination and saving you significant time and effort on maintenance throughout the season.

We offer woodchip in large or tightly shredded grades to suit different applications. If you have a specific requirement — such as a particular particle size or a custom blend — simply contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Our woodchip is suitable for paths, borders, tree bases, play areas, equestrian surfaces, and large-scale landscaping projects. Available in 850 ltr bulk bags, delivered across Glasgow and the West Coast of Scotland.
